Dr. Bernard Lander, founder and president of Touro College, meeting with President George W. Bush in the Oval Office during a visit of Jewish leaders from the community of higher education to the White House on December 18th. Dr. Lander was one of about 15 heads of national Jewish educational institutions and student leaders who visited with the President, in a meeting that lasted over an hour. In addition to educational issues, the group discussed Mr. Bush's opposition to Islamic fundamentalism and the President's desire to preserve democratic values. Afterwards Dr. Lander attended the annual White House Hanukkah reception.
Touro College has experienced phenomenal growth since its founding in 1971, and is currently educating more than 23,000 students at locations in New York, California, Florida, Nevada, Jerusalem, Moscow and Berlin.
