Summer Anatomy 2014

Middletown Campus, NY 10940

A summer anatomy seminar by Dr. Kiran Matthews, Chair of Anatomy

Who should take this course?

This course is for those of you that have never taken an Anatomy course or if you want to ease the pain of the first few weeks of medical school, by mastering the Basics of Anatomy. Anatomy at TOUROCOM is a fast paced intense 10 credit course that is taught in the first semester and this course will prepare you to get a head start.

The very first two weeks of your Medical school you have 12 hours of Anatomy lectures and 12 hours of Anatomy lab. This course was designed for students to get a head start on a class that is one of the most time consuming and difficult subjects. By the end of the first week, students are completely overwhelmed at the amount of material that is covered in a short period of time and this course would provide an excellent foundation.

Course Eligibility: This course is suitable for students entering to study medicine heading to a D.O. or M.D. degree.
Course Description The summer Anatomy is a two week course that is taught by the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine faculty at Middletown. This course covers lectures only on Anatomic terminology and teaches Anatomy by regions. By the end of this course you will have a fair foundation of Anatomy. This course will help you realize the study techniques best suited for you. There will be a question answer session after few segments, and you will get an idea on the pattern of multiple choices questioning Classes will run Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Important Points:
  • To accommodate the final preparations for the school’s opening this will be a shortened and condensed anatomy course with no laboratory component.
  • This course will run in Middletown only if 5 or more students are registered for the course at this site as of July 7, 2014.
  • Final preparations for the beginning of the academic year are ongoing at the Middletown campus; however, with little disruption you will receive a quality introduction course.
  • If you already have a Middletown dormitory room or are in the process of securing a dormitory room, housing management has agreed to allow you to accept your room 2 weeks early - July 12th – in order to take the course and get settled. Those who do not have a dormitory room must secure housing in the community. Please note, food service at the Middletown campus does not start until July 28th; however, we will give you a list of local restaurants and delicatessens. In addition, vending machines are throughout the medical school and a kitchenette is available on every dormitory floor.
