Dr. Issac Herskowitz, Dean of the Graduate School of Technology, presented candidates for the degrees in Information Systems, Web & Multimedia Design, and Instructional Technology. Ted White, was the student speaker.

MSIS 659 / Healthcare Informatics Mr. Ameer Robertson will be the guest speaker in Professor Diana Amrom’s class, MSIS 659, Healthcare Informatics, on December 11, 2014. Mr Robertson has worked as a corporate attorney before moving into the healthcare sector where he has held a number of legal/technology oriented positions.
Mr. Robertson will speak about Lean in the Healthcare Environment.

MSIS 605 / Strategic management of Technology Mr. Jain will be a guest speaker in Professor Benjamin Lunzer's class, MSIS 605, Strategic Management of Technology. Presently Senior Vice President for Corporate Security at Bank of America Merrill lynch, Dr. Jain is a financial services industry expert in the areas of distributed computing, middleware and enterprise security. He has held development, architecture, and technology management roles at Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, and JP Morgan Chase.
Dr. Jain will speak on the topic, "Security Architectures and Technology Trends," in which he will discuss the emerging trends that are integrating hardware and software solutions being targeted both toward commercial and entertainment markets.

Mr. Robert Grosberg
Director of Career Services, Touro Graduate School of Technology
MSIS 607 / Effective Oral and Written Communication for Managers Mr. Grosberg will be the guest speaker in Professor Carolyn Prager’s class, MSIS 607, Effective Oral and Written Communication for Managers. Before becoming Director of Career services for the Touro GST, Mr. Grosberg was the Chief Information Officer for several large Technology corporations and was responsible for hiring and managing large staffs.
Mr. Grosberg will speak about the offerings of the Touro Career Services office. He will also stage and critique mock job interviews to help students improve their job interviewing skills.

MSIS 659 / Healthcare Informatics Mr. Nicholas Aprigliano, MBA, PMP, will be a guest speaker in Professor Diana Amrom’s class, MSIS 659, Healthcare Informatics, on November 24, 2014. Mr. Patterson is the Senior Project Manager for New York Health and Hospitals, responsible for the overall project management of three components of Epic implementation.
Mr. Aprigliano will speak about IT project Management in Healthcare Organizations.

MSIS 645 / Network Security Mr. Yuriy Pinhasov was a guest speaker in Professor Yevgeniy Kharmats class, MSIS 645 Network Security, on November 10, 2014. Mr. Pinhasov maintains the Touro College AD, secures Active Directory, and implements all group policies.
Mr. Pinhasov spoke to the class about AD Security using trust relations between forest, GPO, Administration and Permissions.

MSIS 659 / Healthcare Informatics Mr. Luther Summers Hamilton was the guest speaker in Professor Diana Amrom’s class, MSIS 659, Healthcare Informatics, on September 18, 2014. Mr. Summers Hamilton participates in developing and evaluating facility goals and policies to support quality management through outcome measurements, treatment plans, and cultural and linguistic competence standards.
Mr. Summers Hamilton spoke about Healthcare Information Regulations and Standards, including the legal aspects of management, health records privacy, patient safety, and JCAHO certification and accreditation

MSIS 659 / Healthcare Informatics Ms. Kristen Baumann was the guest speaker in Professor Diana Amrom’s class, MSIS 659, Healthcare Informatics, on September 11, 2014. Ms. Baumann directed the reorganization of the CPEP, which includes the Psychiatric ER, the Extended Observation Unit, the Mobile Crisis Team and the Transitional Housing program.
Ms. Bauman spoke about Clinical Information Systems and discussed how IT helps clinicians with patient care support and decisions revolving around advanced patient care.

Ms. Marilyn Rodkin
Director of Internal Audit, New York Blood Center
MSIS 626 / Database Security Ms. Marilyn Rodkin was a guest speaker in Professor Miriam Plonczak’s class, MSIS 626 Database Security, on May 7, 2014. Ms. Rodkin is responsible for reporting the state of the organization’s control environment to the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees and to the President. She also has managerial oversight for audit scopes, testing, and audit reports. Prior to this position, Ms. Rodkin was a Senior Audit Manager with MetLife.
Ms. Rodkin explained how an IT audit is conducted and described the role IT professionals play when she conducts an audit of their operations, what data they are asked to provide and how data they provide is used to assist in audits of other operations within a company.

Mr. Steven Pollachov
Captain, GIS Commanding Officer, FDNY
MSIS 653 / Geographic Information Database Systems Mr. Steven Pollachov, Captain, GIS Commanding Officer, FDNY, was the guest speaker in Professor Julia O’Brien’s class, MSIS 653, Geographic Information Database Systems. Mr. Pollachov is in charge of the GIS Section for the New York City Fire Department. He is responsible for maintaining data for automated vehicle location, hydrant locations, administrative boundaries, and other data owned by the FDNY.
Mr. Pollachov spoke about how GIS is used by the FDNY and gave demonstrations of online applications developed and used by the department, including preparation for the most recent Super Bowl.

MSIS 611 / Technical Leadership Ms. Yvonne Hyland, Regional Vice President at Gartner Corporation, will be the guest speaker in Professor Andres Fortino’s class, MSIS 611, Technical Leadership. Ms. Hyland has had more than 25 years of experience in the enterprise systems area include more than 20 years working in the SAP ecosystem internationally. Her work covers many industries, including primarily manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical and high tech.
Ms. Hyland will speak about Technical Partnerships: how to develop and use them inside and outside the company. She will also discuss the impact of globalization on the career ladder of the technical leader.

MSIS 605 / Strategic Management of Technology Dr. Herskowitz presentation focused on several aspects of Teamwork, beginning with the importance of teamwork in the successful management of a technology staff. He then analyzed the special characteristics of teamwork, using as examples the top performing teams at IBM. He ended his talk with several tips for students about how to get ahead in an Information Technology career.

Data Communications Manager, Touro College
MSIS 640 / Data Communications Mr. Robert Kariyev will be a guest speaker in Professor Joseph Herbst's class, MSIS 640 Data Communications. As Manager of Data Communications, reporting to the Touro CIO, Mr. Kariyev is responsible for the entire college computer network, including wiring, communications, routers, and network security.
Mr. Kariyev will speak to the students about the "Real World of Data Communications."He will discuss the state of the art in Data Communications technology today, a complex and fast changing field, using Touro's worldwide network as an example of how a large and diversified network needs to cope with the struggles of the real world.

MSIS 640 / Data Communications Mr. Ari Fass, Touro graduate and Systems Administrator, was the guest speaker in Professor Joseph Herbst’s class, MSIS 640, Data Communications.
Mr. Fass presented a general view of the industry and the important factors that students should keep in mind as they are learning Data Communications. He also described the technical details and issues involved in his job responsibilities.

MSIS 611 / Leadership in the Technical Organization Mr. Hue Rhodes, Vice President of Experian Consumer Direct was the guest speaker in Professor Andres Fortino’s class, MSIS 611, Leadership in the Technical Organization. Mr. Rhodes is responsible for business development for fee-based products for Experian Consumer Services, working with complex sales with long cycles and multiple stakeholders. (He also directed Steve Buscemi in a movie!)
Mr. Rhodes spoke about the Transformative Journey of Technical Leaders, a journey of self discovery and growth, and his experience as a film director.
