The Theater at Madison Square Garden, NYC The Graduate School of Technology held commencement exercises honoring graduates in the 2009-2010 academic year on June 10, 2010. The ceremony was held jointly with the other schools in the Touro College Division of Graduate Studies, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Dr. Issac Herskowitz presented 32 candidates for the degree of Master of Science in Information Systems, and Sunil Shakya was the student speaker for the Graduate School of Technology.

Mr. Robert Kariyev
Data Communications Manager, Touro College
MSIS 640 / Data Communications Mr. Robert Kariyev will be a guest speaker in Professor Joseph Herbst's class, MSIS 640 Data Communications on April 16, 2013. As Manager of Data Communications, reporting to the Touro CIO, Mr. Kariyev is responsible for the entire college computer network, including wiring, communications, routers, and network security.

Mr. Kariyev will speak to the students about the "Real World of Data Communications."He will discuss the state of the art in Data Communications technology today, a complex and fast changing field, using Touro's worldwide network as an example of how a large and diversified network needs to cope with the struggles of the real world.

MSIS 605 / Strategic Management of Technology Dr. Herskowitz presentation focused on several aspects of Teamwork, beginning with the importance of teamwork in the successful management of a technology staff. He then analyzed the special characteristics of teamwork, using as examples the top performing teams at IBM. He ended his talk with several tips for students about how to get ahead in an Information Technology career.

Results oriented and motivated by the slogan, “success is not by chance,” he is an expert at producing highly functional and driven management teams.
Mr. Gasco will speak about “The Top 10 Obstacles to Project Success” and what some are doing to resolve them.

MSIS 647 / Computer Networking Mr. Robert Harbeck will be a guest speaker in Professor Albert Bina’s class, MSIS 647, Computer Networking. He provides consultative sales expertise to customers in the Education and Healthcare sectors. He worked on pilot programs with CUNY/SUNY for mobile apps that dealt with assignments, curriculum, blogs and class schedules. For major New York hospitals, he provided mobile applications to reduce readmission rates for CHF, Heart Failure and Pneumonia.
Mr. Harbeck will speak about “Technology and Infrastructure Integration” using Sprint Global MPLs as an example.

Mr. Dopman is responsible for managing Microsoft’s product and solutions for the City of New York and State and Local governments. The title of his presentation will be “Introducing Windows Server 2012.”

Fortino’s class, MSIS 613, Managing and implementing Technological Innovation in Today’s Business Environment. A professor of management of Technology and Business Innovation and Director of the NYU/Poly Executive Master’s Degree Program, he has invented and or innovated many products and services including EZ Pass, the CDROM and the 16:9 HDTV format for which he received a 2002 EMMY award.
Mr. Nadan spoke about “How to Become an Innovation Sherpa,” a presentation he will deliver at a TEDx event later in the semester.

Ms. Marano has more than 20 years of technology, sales, marketing and general management experience in the software and telecommunications fields and has held management positions with both start-ups and large international companies. Recognizing the clear developer shortage in and importance & subsequent confluence of cloud-based Big Data/Analytics, social computing, and mobile-centric user experience, Rob founded The Hackerati.

Mr. Hsu spoke in two consecutive classes about “Leading Pocket Strategies: Mobile Product Management and Monetization.”

She has additional oversight over audit scopes, testing and reports.

Ms. Rodkin spoke about how audits are conducted, what is examined, and how IT professionals assist in the process.
