Admission Requirements

 

M.S. Mathematics Education (Initial Certification)

  • Application for admission
  • Official undergraduate transcript from an accredited institution of higher education for a baccalaureate degree reflecting either (a) a major in Mathematics with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in the mathematics courses or (b) a minimum of 30 credits of mathematics coursework at the Pre-Calculus level or above, with a grade point average of at least 3.0 in the mathematics courses, and including at least two semesters of Calculus, one semester of linear algebra, and one semester of higher geometry.
  • Two letters of reference from applicant's employers and/or professors
  • Personal statement of applicant's goals and objectives (in accordance with the application guidelines)
  • A brief interview with the Program Chair or a faculty member designated by the Program Chair

 

M.S. Mathematics Education (Professional Certification)

  • Application for admission
  • Official undergraduate transcript from an accredited institution of higher education for a baccalaureate degree reflecting either (a) a major in Mathematics with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in the mathematics courses or (b) a minimum of 30 credits of mathematics coursework at the Pre-Calculus level or above, with a grade point average of at least 3.0 in the mathematics courses, and including at least two semesters of Calculus, one semester of linear algebra, and one semester of higher geometry.
  • Two letters of reference from applicant's employers and/or professors
  • Personal statement of applicant's goals and objectives (in accordance with the application guidelines)
  • Copy of your initial NYS certification in Mathematics Education (Grades 7 - 12) or an equivalent
  • A brief interview with the Program Chair or a faculty member designated by the Program Chair
