Chair, MS in TESOL/Bilingual Advanced Certificate Programs

 

Dr. Seong-Shin Kim is the chair of MS in TESOL and Advanced Certificate Programs in Bilingual Education. She has worked with the Equity Assistant Center (EAC) at Touro College since January 2009 to promote equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. She has provided instructional coaching and professional development in local school districts and has collaborated in efforts to increase the recruitment and retention of the state's minority teaching force. Prior to joining EAC at Touro college, she taught ESL endorsement courses both at the graduate and undergraduate level at Kansas State University. In addition, while in Kansas, she also worked with K-12 public school teachers to support their development of knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed for effectiveness with ELL student populations.  As a manager in charge of Title III grant project at Collaborative Intercultural Multilingual Advocacy (CIMA) center in College of Education at Kansas State University, she collaborated with teachers and administrators in multiple districts in Kansas, providing site-specific professional development and coaching related to effective instructional practice with culturally and linguistically diverse students. She earned her Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction, specialized in TESOL, from Kansas State University.
