Admission Requirements for General Education, Special Education and Speech and Language Disabilities Certificate Programs

 

  • A brief interview with Dr. Seong-Shin Kim, Program Chair.
  • Official transcripts of your undergraduate and/or graduate Studies.
    (Minimum grade point average of 3.0)
  • Copy of initial or professional NYS teaching certification or speech and Language Disabilities.
  • Application for admission (click on the link to download the application)
  • Immunization record.
  • Two letters of reference from employers and/or professors.
  • Documentation of proficiency in the target language of instruction (Target language verification form is available at the TESOL/BLE office).
  • Personal statement of your goals and objectives (According to application guidelines).

Admission Requirements Pupil Personnel Services Certificate Program

 

  • A brief interview with Dr. Seong-Shin Kim, Program Chair.
  • Official transcripts of your undergraduate and/or graduate Studies.
    (Minimum grade point average of 3.0)
  • Proof of NYS certificate in school psychology, school social work, or school counseling.
  • Credentials to justify status as a PPS in NYS. Or, Proof of salaried work experience as a PPS for min. 1 year.
  • Application for admission.
  • Immunization record.
  • Two letters of reference from employers and/or professors.
  • Documentation of proficiency in the target language of instruction (Target language verification form is available at the TESOL/BLE office).
  • Personal statement of your goals and objectives.

 

*Students will need access to a school with bilingual population and a mentor PPS who is certified in bilingual education in order to complete the field experience course.
