The Master of Science program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply psychological principles, models, and methods to organizational issues in order to enhance productivity, growth, and profitability. Coursework in this practitioner-oriented program synthesizes a broad range of psychological and behavioral approaches to prepare students to assess organizational effectiveness, devise and implement strategies for improvement, and measure outcomes.
From a career standpoint, graduates may find organizational and professional development roles in areas of consulting, business, education, government, and community and health organizations. Go to the program page...
School psychologists focus on the improvement of children's academic, social, behavioral and emotional functioning in the school context. A significant area of focus is psycho-educational assessment. School psychologists also devise and carry out educational and behavioral interventions, provide formal and informal counseling and crisis intervention, facilitate parent and teacher meetings, and serve as consultants on behavioral and educational issues.
The Master of Science program in School Psychology consists of 63 semester hours of required coursework in the areas of education and special education, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, report writing, counseling and consultation. Mental Health Counselors typically work a variety of mental health settings (e.g., clinics, hospitals, counseling centers, rehabilitation facilities, outreach programs, after care centers, private practice).
The Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling consists of 60 semester hours of required coursework in the field of mental health counseling where faculty members offer classroom or online instruction, based on their knowledge and professional experiences. Graduates of our program will acquire the necessary skills to become mental health professionals prepared to meet the needs of clients and the challenges of a mental health career.
After 3,000 post Master's degree hours in an entry-level position, graduates of the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program are eligible to apply to take the New York State Examination for licensure in New York State. Go to the program page...
School counselors typically work in all levels of K-12 school systems and deal with the academic, social and career development needs of children through the implementation of school counseling programs.
The Master of Science in School Counseling consists of 60 semester hours of required coursework towards eligibility for provisional New York State School Counseling certification. The curriculum provides students with a thorough understanding of the issues involved in school counseling while also allowing them to view counseling as an educational intervention designed to help clients learn skills that will help them toward their goals. Applicants wishing to pursue a graduate degree in General Psychology will have two options: M.A. in General Psychology and M.A. in General Psychology with applied research focus, which is aimed at students who have completed their BA degree in Psychology or in related fields and are interested in acquiring research and data-analytic skills as part of their master's level training.
