Biography:
Mr. Ron (Reuvain) Ansel is the Director of Career Services at Touro College. He holds an MBA in Management Information Systems from American University and a BA in Accounting from Franklin and Marshall College. Prior to joining Touro in July 2005, he was the principal of his personal/business coaching and organizational consulting firm, Strategies for Success. In 2002 he completed a 25-year career with J. P. Morgan Chase where he was a Vice President in Human Resources, specializing in team development, organizational change, personal awareness workshops, diversity training, coaching and development of mentoring programs. His coaching practice focused on many aspects of career development and transition.

Biography:
Ms. Renee Blinder serves as the coordinator of Advisement and Counseling for the Lander College in Flatbush. Ms. Blinder is a Certified Social Worker as well as a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor. She formerly worked as a family therapist with the Yatzkan Center, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center servicing Jewish youth. She also worked as a psychotherapist for the Bridge Back to Life Center and as a family therapist at Stuyvesant Square/Beth Israel Medical Center. Ms. Blinder holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brooklyn College in health science and a Masters of Social Work from New York University School of Social Work. She also possesses a post-masters certificate in family therapy from Downstate medical Center. Ms. Blinder also represents the college as a member of the Committee on Academic Standing.

Biography:
Dr. Joel Dickstein is an Assistant Professor of Education and the Special Needs Advisor at Touro College. He also serves as a senior consultant for the National Education and Resource Center and has been very active in training teachers to be aware of and handle the special needs of students. He previously served as program coordinator for the Yeshiva University High School P'Tach program. He has also served in various administrative positions at Fairleigh Dickinson and Columbia Universities. Dr. Dickstein has an Ed.D and M. Ed in Special Education from Teachers College of Columbia University. He completed his undergraduate studies at Case Western Reserve University, where he received a BA in Psychology and Education.

Biography:
Mr. Sidney Goldberg has an extensive background and a career of more than twenty-five years in the child welfare system, initially in direct services to families and then as the founder and director of The Pathways to Development Program. Unique to child welfare, Pathways provides foster and other children with high quality opportunities for interest development through weekly classes and other learning experiences. Mr. Goldberg lived in Israel for many years where he founded a music program at Sanhedria Children’s Home, and he also taught music at Horev and other schools in Jerusalem. He has won several awards for his work with children and youth, and together with The Pathways to Development Program, has been featured in publications on child welfare and in The New York Times. Mr. Goldberg is a graduate of Adelphi University and earned a Master’s degree in Counseling at New York University. He studied with and had personal supervision under the founder of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. Mr. Goldberg also has New York State Certification as a school counselor.

Biography:
Dr. Avery M. Horowitz serves as Dean of Advisement and Counseling. He joined the Touro College professional staff in January 1998 after serving as Assistant Academic Dean of Yeshiva College for five years. In that position he was responsible for creating an Academic Advisement Center for the college, as well as the daily operation of the Dean's office. Prior to this, he taught economics at Yeshiva University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Brooklyn College. Dr. Horowitz received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Brooklyn College and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from City University Graduate School and University Center. He currently serves on the Policy subcommittee of the New York State Disabiities Council. He served as the New York State representative and executive committee member of the Northeast Region of The National Academic Advising Association. He has presented professional papers on such subjects as Transfer credit evaluation and ethical issues facing advisors. Dr. Horowitz also serves Touro as a member of the Committee on Academic Standing and the college-wide Assessment Committeee as well as the Curriculum Committee. He is also the co-chair of the SCAS Graduation Committee. Besides his advisement responsibilities, Dr. Horowitz coordinates the course schedule and final examinations for LAS.

Mr. Peter Mandelbaum has been a counselor/advisor at Touro College since 1996. He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Education and Counseling from Villanova University. Mr. Mandelbaum also works as a guidance counselor in the NYC Dept of Education. He formerly was the director of the B'nai B'rith Career & Counseling Services of NY. and is currently the educational consultant of its College Scholarship Committee. He has worked in the field of career and academic guidance for more than thirty years.

Mr. Chaim Shapiro earned his Masters Degree in College Student Personnel from Loyola University, Chicago and finished all but his dissertation in the Institute Leadership and Policy Studies Ph.D Program at the Univerisity of California, Riverside Graduate School of Education. Ms. Lisa Sheinhouse has a Master's Degree in School Psychology from the Graduate School of Education and Psychology of Touro College as well a Bachelor's Degree from Touro. Before becoming a counselor/advisor for the college, she served as the executive assistant to the Dean of Students at Touro College. Ms. Sheinhouse also serves as an area coordinator for Ohel Bais Ezra and is an adjunct instructor in psychology at Touro College.

She spent more than 10 years working and volunteering in the non-profit sector for organizations such as National Conference of Synagogue Yourth as Director of Recruitment, Summer Programs; East Coast Director, One Family Fund; Managing Director, Voices for Israel; Staff member, Birthright Israel Programs; Coordinator, Gift of Life Bone Marrow Drives; Heritage Seminars; KEDMA; the Koby Mandell Foundation and other non-profits in the US and abroad. Ms. Singer was the administrator of a post-high school program in Israel focusing on recruitment, staffing and guidance for students regarding college and future decisions. Dr. Robert Solomon recently joined Touro College as an counselor/advisor. Dr. Solomon holds a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from Trinity College and University. Dr. Solomon earlier earned his bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College. Dr. Solomon’s past experience includes work with Ohel Children’s Home in Brooklyn, the National Neighborhood Counseling Center, and the Inter-borough Developmental and Consultation Center. Mr. Joshua Zilberberg has a BA from Yeshiva University and an MSW from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work. He has also worked in many social service agencies including Yeled V'Yalda and Nachas Health and Family Network.

Biography:
Professor Naomi Klapper, L.M.H.P. serves as a clinical counselor and deputy chair of the Psychology Department at the Lander College Manhattan Women's Division. She earned her Masters of Science from Columbia University in Social and Organizational Psychology, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Queens College of the City University. She is a licensed therapist with a private practice on the Upper West Side of manhattan. Professor Klapper previously served as an Instructor of Psychology at Yeshiva university and worked as an Industrial Psychologist in the private sector.

Mr. Levy recently joined the Touro oollege staff. Both his Bachelors Degree in Psychology (graduated with honors) and his Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling were earned at Touro College. Rabbi Joshua Cheifetz is an academic advisor and career counselor at Machon L'Parnassa. Rabbi Cheifetz has his MSW from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and a BA from Yeshiva College. Rabbi Cheifetz previously served for many years as the Director of Residence Halls at Yeshiva University where he performed both administrative and guidance functions. Earlier in his career, he also worked as the Director of Career Guidance at yeshiva University and as the teenage division supervisor at the East New York YM &YWHA. Mr. Shapiro joined Touro College in 2001 as an advisor in our Borough Park site. He now serves at our Avenue J branch . He is also an adjunct professor teaching math and Sociology classes at Touro. His previous experience includes working as a production technical manager in New York and as Senior Relationship Manager for Gallup Polls in Moscow.

Ms. Renate Ross joined Touro college after serving as Program Coordinator and Job Placement Counselor for the Cope Institute. Among her other responsibilities in that position, she provided individualized counseling, assessment and case management to Cope's students. Ms. Ross was also involved in recruiting and registering students in that program. She is a graduate of Brooklyn College.

Mr. Safyan serves as an advisor at the Spring Creek (Starrett City) location. Biography:
Mr. Shimon Dreyfuss is located at the Touro College Kings Highway Branch. He is a graduate of Queens College, where he majored in Psychology, with a minor in Student Services. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Dreyfuss served as a peer advisor at Queens College. He earned a Masters Degree in Social Psychology from Queens College and holds a New York State Certification as a School Psychologist. He is a graduate of the Tour Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where he earned his second Masters in Mental Health Counseling. Mr. Dreyfuss previously served as a School Psychologist for Yeshiva University High School's PTACH Program. He has worked as a psychotherapist for Tikvah at Ohel, an outpatient mental health clinic in the greater Brooklyn area, where he conducted psychological assessments as well.

Biography:
Ms. Reznikov serves as an academic advisor at Touro College. She comes to us with fifteen years of experience in higher education. She taught chemistry at both the High School and College levels in her native Russia, and served as an Assistant Principal as well. In addition, Ms. Reznikov earned a Bachelors Degree in Business at Touro College.

Ms. Graber recently joined Touro College as an advisor. She holds a Masters Degree from Wurzweiler School of Social Work. Her past experience includes working with children and parents where she led socialization groups and outreach programs. She has also provided therapy for clients in the Mental Health Clinic of Bikur Cholim, has worked as a research assistant to a well-known author and has trained campers on survival skills and personal development.

Biography:
Mrs. Sophia Volfson serves as Director of Academic Advisement. Ms. Volfson is a licensed social worker in the state of New York and holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Touro College. Her prior position in Touro College was Director of Academic Support Services in Brooklyn. Before joining Touro College in 1991, she earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Economics and also in Civil Engineering in Minsk, Belarus. Ms. Volfson worked as a Vice President of a sportswear corporation and as an adjunct professor at a college of Civil Engineering. Ms. Volfson also holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Touro College and has completed a number of Education courses. Additionally, Ms. Volfson represents the College as a member of the Committee on Academic Standing and the Graduate Committee.

Biography:
Before he joined the Touro Academic Advisement team in September 2004, Mr. Pang worked as an Academic Advisor for ten years at the Technical Career Institute in New York. Mr. Pang received his BS in Engineering in 1979 from National Taiwan University. He holds a ME (Master of Engineering) from Manhattan College.

Ms. Corolyn Sylvester previously worked for the College of New Rochelle as a Librarian. She also worked as a Keyboard Specialist at Bronx Addiction Treatment Center from 8/05 to 3/06. Biography:
Mr. Maurice has recently joined the Touro Advisement and Counseling staff at the SGS/Sunset park branch of Touro College. He has taught creative writing, workshops in fiction, and English Composition on all levels as an adjunct lecturer at the City College of New York, and at the University of San Francisco. He has also served as an academic advisor at the Division of the Humanities and the Arts, the City College of New York. Mr. Maurice is a state-credentialed Mental Health Counselor.

Biography:
Mr. Willie Evans is a certified alcoholism and substance abuse counselor. He has a bachelor's degree in social work from Mercy College. In addition to his work with the counseling staff in the School of General Studies, Mr. Evans serves as the Coordinator of Consumer Services at Bailey House. In that position, he coordinates and conducts the consumer focused activities of the clinical services unit. Mr. Evans has also served as the coordinator of the outreach program at Mount Vernon Hospital and as the Drug Court Coordinator at Rockland County Drug Court. Mr. Evans other past responsibilities included serving as Experiential Group facilitator at the Rockland County Council on Alcoholism and other Substance Abuse, the Program Coordinator at the Phelps Alcoholism Treatment Services, as well as the Coordinator of DTATI Outpatient Program at the Westchester County Medical Center.

Biography:
Assistant Dean Charlotte Holzer has been at Touro College's School for Lifelong Education since 1992. She earned her Ph.D.from Columbia University in English and American Literature as well as an MA in English from Northwestern University. She serves as an assistant professor at the School for Lifelong Education as well as the Undergraduate Chair for Interdisciplinary Studies. Dr. Holzer has previously been an Assistant Professor at Kingsborough Community College and a Lecturer at the Stevens Institute of Technology. Dr. Holzer represents the college as a member of the Committee on Academic Standing and has served on various Middle States Committees.

Biography:
Ms. Sandra Parnes is a counselor at the School for Lifelong Education. She has an MS in Education, Guidance and School Counseling from Brooklyn College as well as an Advanced Certificate in Educational Administration and Supervision form Brooklyn College. Ms. Parnes has an undergraduate degree in English form Brooklyn College. She is currently employed as a guidance counselor for the NYC Department of Education and serves as a community liaison for the Bilingual Yiddish Special Education Program. Ms. Parness is also the facilitator of parent workshops for the Department of Education. She has previously taught in both regular and special education classrooms.
